Competition – The National Open Art 2012

The National Open Art Competition runs every year. The date for entry this year is 31st JULY 2012 is the Last Day to submit artwork for the competition. Please go to The National Open Arts 2012 to register and for further details. The National Open Art Competition accepts submissions of original artwork including paintings, drawings and art photography.

Here below is a little a bit about them from their website:

MISSION STATEMENT

The Chichester Art Trust, a not for profit registered charity, has administrated this competition since its inception in 1996. It has no Arts Council funding and all registration fees and donations go towards running the competition and awarding prizes.

Its aim is to provide a truly open and unbiased forum for all UK artists to compete and then exhibit their work to an ever
increasing audience who can enjoy and purchase very high quality contemporary art.

With annual prizes of £40,000 to date , and continuing to grow, the exhibition can be seen every autumn at The Minerva Theatre
Gallery at The Festival Theatre, Chichester and the winning works show later at Pallant House Gallery. In 2012 the whole
exhibition transfers for the first time to a London gallery to be shown at The Princes Foundation Gallery in Hoxton. Certain
selected Works on Paper are also chosen each year to transfer to The Watercolour Fair at The Science Museum in London.
Attracting artists from the entire UK, including Scotland, Wales and Northern Ireland, paintings, drawings, original prints,
photography, street art, computer generated art and wall hung installations are submitted and subjected to a two stage judging
process, the first being digitally screened.

The panel of five leading judges shortlist 500 works at the second judging, when the real works are seen, and 100 works are then
chosen for the final exhibition.

The judges are carefully selected and new faces appear each year on the panel. (see the website details under JUDGES)

Our small dedicated team and ten trustees have one aim in mind and that is to help as many artists as possible to succeed in their
chosen career.

Also we noticed a handy resource to put your artwork in is the Stiffy Bag  is made from a durable metallic foil bubble wrap material with a strong plastic lining which prevents snagging. Please go to Stiffy Bag for further details of sizes and costs.
